What is the purpose of a Punnett Square? A tool used to predict the probability of an offsprings genetics. Also can find Genotype and Phenotype.
What is Hybrid? A diffrent blending from both parents. =Diffrent traits.
Purebred? A blending from both parents.= Same traits.
Homozygous? An organism with 2 alleles that are the same. TT OR tt.
Heterozygous? A organism with 2 alleles that are diffrent. Tt.
What are dominant traits in a Punnett Square? Always show up in phenotype: CAPTIAL LETTER.
What are recessive traits in a Punnett Square? Only show up if paired with another recessive. lower case.
Heredity?V.SGenectics? Heredity: The passing down of traits from parent to offspring. Genectics :The study of how traits are inheriting through interactions with alleles.
What is the purpose of pedigree? Pedigree: A tool to follow traits through generations.
How do you read pedigree? Shaded in shape has the specific trait.
How are males and females repersented in pedigree? Males: Square Female: Circle
How are homozygous and purebred related? Both are blending of two alleles that are the same.
How are heterzygous and hybrid related? Both are a blending of two alleles that are diffrent.
Where are genes located? Genes are located on the chromosones.
What is genotype? Gentic made up of oraganisms .
What is phenotype? The way it looks or behaves.
What is incomplete dominance? Say dark blue flower + white flower= light blue flower.
What is inherited traits? Something that you are born with. EYE COLOR.
What is learned traits? Something that you have to learn; TALK AND WALK.
What is Mutation? Mutation is when genes get messed up during reproduction.
How is the sex of the offspring deterimined? Male: X,Y Female: X,X. The male gets to choose the sex of the offspring.
What is genetic engineering? Manipulatimg genes to alert traits.
How many alleles come from both the father and the mother? Father: 1 Mother: 1
