anatomy the study of the structure of living organisms.
anterior the abdominal or ventral side of the body.
appendicular pertaining to the exremities
axial pertaining to the longitudinal axis of the body
cephalic pertaining to the head
cervical pertaining to the neck
homeostasis maintenance of a relatively stable internal environment
meninges membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.
metabolism the sum of the chemical reactions in the body.
parietal pertaining to the wall of a body cavity.
pericardium the membrane surrounding the heart.
peritoneum the membrane lining the abdominal cavity and covering the abdominal organs.
physiology the study of the functioning of living organisms.
pleura the membrane lining the thoracic cavity and covering the lungs.
posterior the dorsal or backside of the body.
visceral pertaining to organs in a body cavity.
