| Every officer shall know and abide by the laws | of the State of Florida, the City of Jacksonville, the constitutional rights of citizens, |
| All members shall adhere to all laws | international, federal, state, and municipal |
| All members are required to notify | the Sheriff if they are arrested or cited for a criminal violation in Duval County or in any other jurisdiction |
| The notification must take place in writing | and within 24 hours of the member's return to work following the arrest or criminal citation |
| Members of the Sheriff's Office shall abide by the rules of conduct as set forth in | the Civil Service and Personnel Rules and Regulations |
| and all written directives | of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office |
| Any violation of these or other regulations may subject the member | to disciplinary action |
| Non-sworn members, although not personally responsible for enforcement of the law | shall respect and protect the rights of individuals and perform their services with honesty,zeal, courage, discretion, fidelity |
| They shall also provide support | for the Sheriff's Office basic mission |
| At a minimum, all employees shall receive ethics training | biennially |
| Members shall obey the lawful orders of superiors | including any order relayed from a superior by an employee of the same or lesser rank |
| Orders known to be unlawful | shall NOT be obeyed |
| Obedience to an order known to be unlawful | is no defense against legal or disciplinary action |
| Any member refusing to obey an order | will be required to justify the refusal |
| A member that is given an order that is in conflict with a previous order, regulation, directive, or manual | shall respectfully inform the superior member issuing the order of the conflict |
| If the superior member issuing the order does not alter or retract the conflicting order | the member shall comply unless it is a violation of the law |
| Under these circumstances, the responsibility shall be upon | the superior member |
| The member obeying the conflicting order shall | not be held responsible for disobedience of the order previously issued |
| All members shall cooperate fully with any investigation of violations | of Sheriff's Office Rules and Regulations and with any other investigation consistent with their constitutional rights |
| This may include, under appropriate circumstances | submission to medical testing |
