Freezing Point | 0 degrees C or 32 degrees F. The point when liquid becomes solid. |
Melting Point | 0 degrees C or 32 degrees F. The point when solid becomes liquid. |

Solute | The substance being dissolved. Ex: powdered drink mix (Kool-Aid) |
Solvent | The substance dissolving. Ex: water |
Solid | state of matter with definite shape and volume. Particles are packed closely together. |
Liquid | state of matter with definite volume, but takes the shape of the container it is in. Particles move around freely. |
Gas | state of matter with no definite shape or volume. Particles move vigorously (very quickly). |
Sedimentary Rocks | formed in layers, often found near water, contains fossils. |
Igneous Rocks | lava that has cooled and hardened |
Metamorphic Rocks | formed from sedimentary and igneous rocks with pressure, heat, and chemicals. |
Weathering | the BREAKING DOWN of rocks through water, wind, ice, and plant roots. |
Erosion | the CARRYING AWAY of rocks |
Deposition | DROPPING rocks in a new place, creating new landforms |
