What are the three branches of government? Legislative, Executive, and Judicial.
What does the Legislative Branch do? Makes the laws, approves annual budget, confirms presidential appointments, raises revenue through taxes, regulates interstate and foreign trade, and declares war.
How many people are in the Senate? 100, 2 per state.
How many people are in Congress? 435, based upon state populations.
What does the Executive branch do? Executes the laws, prepares annual budget, appoints cabinet members, administers federal bureaucracy.
Who heads the Executive Branch? The current president.
Who heads the Legislative Branch? The current members of Congress.
Who heads the Judicial Branch? The current Supreme Court.
What does the Judicial Branch do? Exercises Judicial review, the federal courts try cases involving federal law and questions involving interpretation of the Constitution.
Which articles define the powers of the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches? Articles 1, 2, and 3.
What is Checks and Balances? Where each of the three branches of the national government limits the exercise of power by the other two branches.
What can Congress do? Override presidential vetoes, impeach and convict a president, and confirm or refuse federal courts/ justices.
What branch of government can declare presidential acts unconstitutional? Judicial Branch. ( The Supreme Court )
Who nominates judges for the Supreme court? The Executive Branch ( The president )
What branch of government can declare laws unconstitutional? The Judicial Branch. ( The Supreme Court )
What branch of government can remove judges from office and confirms the presidents nominations? The Legislative Branch. ( Congress )
What branch of government can veto congressional legislation? The Executive Branch ( The president )
What branch of government approves presidential nominations and controls the budget. The Legislative Branch ( Congress )

What are the responsibilities of the president? Chief of state, Chief executive, Chief legislator, Commander in chief, Chief diplomat, Chief of party, Chief citizen.
