Safety Basics

TermDefinition
Occupational Back Support is a type of back brace with suspenders.
Flammable materials are those that are quick to burn
Lockout/Tagout means that all necessary switches on malfunctioning electrical equipment are tagged and locked from use.
Emergency is a potentially life-threatening situation that usually occurs suddenly and unexpectedly.
First Aid involves assisting an injured person until professional medical help can be provided.
Shock is a serious medical condition in which not enough oxygen reaches tissues.
Abrasion is a scrape or mirror cut
Laceration is a cut or tear in the skin that can be quite deep.
Avulsion happens when a portion of the skin is partially of completely turned off.
Puncture Wound doesn't usually cause excessive bleeding.
Heimlich Maneuver is an emergency technique for preventing suffocation when a person's airway (windpipe) becomes blocked by a piece of food or other object.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR ) is emergency care that is performed on people who are unresponsive
General Safety Audit is a review and inspection of all safety procedures and equipment.
