| It is the responsibility of all Sheriff’s Office employees | assigned to the Department of Corrections (officers and civilians) |
| to ensure the security of the facility is strictly maintained by providing | adequate safeguards |
| (i.e., proper searching, screening techniques | and reporting unusual or suspicious activity |
| in order to prevent escapes | the introduction of weapons and/or contraband |
| into the facility and prevent | unauthorized access |
| All visitors wishing to enter the facility for the purpose of inmate visitation | will be accounted for in the Correctional Management Information System (CMIS) Electronic Visitation Module |
| Visitors wishing to see staff members or for business | not related to inmate visitation will be recorded on the Public Entrance/Visitation Register (P–486) |
| For the purpose of this order | a visitor is defined as anyone wishing to enter the Facility |
| to visit with an inmate and/or any person | who enters the facility through the public reception area for any business who does not work in the facility |
| The following people will be required | to sign in |
| Teachers, counselors | contracted employees |
| Corrections Officers who wish to enter | the facility when off duty |
| to visit with | a specific inmate |
| Jacksonville Sheriff's Office personnel | and other law enforcement agency Personnel |
| to include | uniformed officers |
| All persons for whom the facility | is their worksite, such as teachers |
| contracted employees, and Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Department | of Corrections personnel who enter the building |
| as a part of their workday, such as the mail run officers | will not be required to sign in |
