contraband

Rules for Collecting Contraband Substances/Items

of the substance or item, if known date and time, area located
and the name of the inmate or visitor from whom it was collected
Contraband (other than nuisance contraband) confiscated by corrections officers will be labeled noting the identity or type
of the substance or item, if known date and time, area located
and the name of the inmate or visitor from whom it was collected
Contraband discovered in inmate housing or dormitory areas will be noted on the Daily Post Log and inmate contact log in CMIS
If a substance has to be chemically tested (such as suspected cocaine), it will be tested
under the direct supervision of the area supervisor
Chemical test kits will NOT be used inside of the facility
Contraband that is possessed or passed by a visitor will be confiscated
and a police officer immediately requested to charge the visitor if circumstances warrant criminal charges
The discovering corrections officer will
Immediately notify his area supervisor
Detain the visitor until police arrive
Maintain possession of the contraband and the visitor's identification
until turned over to the responding police officer
Prepare and submit a COPSMORE Informational Report and Notify the Security Lieutenant via email of the report and the CCR Number
