Juvenile Housing

QuestionAnswer
juvenile inmate is any inmate under the age of 18 who has been adjudicated as an adult by waiver, direct file, and indictment by a Grand Jury
or has received adult sanctions on any previous convictions in adult court
Juveniles will be housed separately from other inmates to prohibit the juvenile from having regular contact with incarcerated adults including trusties
Regular contact is defined as sight and sound contact and separation is maintained using window film, and time phasing of inmate movement
Brief inadvertent or accidental contact is not considered regular contact
Juveniles charged with a traffic offense involving death or injury will not be placed with adults under any circumstances
All juveniles will be locked down daily at 1900 hours and will remain in their sleeping cells until the breakfast meal is served
The Custody Watch Lieutenant must approve any deviation from this schedule
