posterior / dorsal to the back
superior to whats above
inferior to whats below
central to the core/middle/center
peripheral outside of the center
superficial closest to the surface of the skin
deep farthest from the surface
inner aspect what doesnt come in contact with the outside world, inside of arms/legs
cephalic / cranial pertains to the head
caudal pertains to tailbone
distal (extremities) away from surface
proximal (extremities) in close proximity to structure
medial close to midline
lateral pertains to side
supine laying on back, face up
prone belly down
afferent going toward structure
efferent going away from structure
