Authorized Personal In-Cell Property

Authorized personal in–cell property for inmates housed in any Department of Corrections facility may consist of the following
1. Walking canes, crutches, orthopedic braces, orthopedic footwear, artificial limbs, medical alert bracelets, wheelchairs or medications as authorized on a white arm band by Authorized 1. Walking canes, crutches, orthopedic braces, orthopedic footwear, artificial limb
Inmates returned from other correctional institutions will be allowed to keep health and comfort items purchased from the commissary at the other institutions
as long as they do not pose a safety/security risk as determined by the Commissary Sergeant
The following items are not normally medically related to inmate health care and will not be ordered by DHS staff for inmate use
Pillows Extra mattresses
Medical snack bags are to be consumed immediately and will not be stored in the inmate’s cell
unless otherwise authorized via an email or other written form from a DHS staff member
Styrofoam cups purchased by inmates from commissary are intended for use for a single day
Used cups will be discarded as contraband and no more than one used cup will be retained by an inmate during a search
