Direct Observation Officer (One-On-One)

QuestionAnswer
The Direct Observation (one–on–one) Officer shall not
Be assigned to (one–on–one) direct observation for a total of more than 4 hours
during any given watch in order to prevent fatigue, complacency, and/or over–familiarization with the inmate
Relieve the close supervision officer while in the same dorm
Sit at any of the tables located in the dorm
Leave his assigned area until properly relieved
Bring any food, reading materials or other personal items to the Direct Observation post
Participate in the cell search so he can maintain the direct, uninterrupted visual observation of the inmate
Maintain a position directly in front of the cell where the inmate is housed
including when the inmate is housed within a dorm until properly relieved by another officer
Maintain constant uninterrupted visual observation of the inmate
