| Probe Removal | Some probes will simply fall out |
| If a subject, who has a probe embedded in their body, requests that the probe be removed by medical personnel | then the officers shall arrange for medical personnel to remove the probes |
| Medical personnel shall remove probes located in sensitive areas | such as the face, neck, groin, female's breast, and tops of the hands and feet |
| Removal of probes in non-sensitive | areas may be done by officers |
| Officers or other trained personnel will provide first aid following removal | of the probes by applying iodine or alcohol wipes, and Band-Aids to the probe sites as needed |
| Officers should inspect the probes after removal to see that the entire probe | and probe barb has been removed |
| In the event that a probe, or probe barb, has broken off | and it is still embedded in a subject's skin; the subject shall be provided appropriate medical attention to facilitate the removal of the object |
| If the incident is non-routine, or if a serious injury is alleged, the probes and the expended air cartridge(s), | as well as the Anti-Felon Identification Devices (AFIDS) if possible to collect them |
| shall be maintained as evidence appropriately secured | and marked as biohazard and placed in the Property and Evidence Facility |
