| Leave taken under the City’s Personal Leave Plans | or Leaves of Absence may qualify for, and be applied towards, an employee’s FMLA leave entitlement |
| The City will designate any absence taken | for a qualifying reason as FMLA |
| and count that time against an employee’s | 12–week FMLA entitlement |
| Approved Family and Medical and Leave may be | paid, unpaid, or a combination of both |
| All employees with more than 80 hours of available leave | will be placed on FMLA paid leave until their available leave balance reaches 80 hours |
| Thereafter, such employees shall choose either to continue | with paid leave to cover the remainder of their FMLA time |
| or alternate to a FMLA leave | without pay status |
| An employee can utilize intermittent leave | when it is taken in separate blocks of time due to a single qualifying reason |
