Principle of government

TermDefinition
Representative Democracy A government in which the people elect someone to represent them
Limited Government A government in which the power is limited
Federalism The power is divided between the federal, state, and local governments
Separation of Power The power is separated between the 3 branches of government
Checks and Balances Each branch of government checks each other to make sure the power is balanced
Judicial Review Makes sure the laws are fair
Rule of law No one is above the law
Consent of the governed The people give the government permission
Majority Rule The majority votes make the rules
Popular Sovereignty People have the power
Equal Protection Everyone is equally protected under the law
