High Debt There were severe financial problems with the government. They owed a lot of money to other nations forum the revolutionary war. They owed 12 million dollars in war debt
Worthless money To solve the problems of no money for the people, they printed fake worthless money as a currency. Some states used other nations currency. This also made the central government powerless to collect taxes
Farmers in trouble Farmers were taxed highly on their land and they were very poor with almost no income coming in. Debtors were thrown in jail until they could pay there debt
Shays' Rebellion Since this was happening, Daniel Shay led a group of poor farmers who were ready to fight against taxes and protest to the government
National Solutions Needed They created the constitution to create a stronger new government and solve the problems of the AOC ( articles of confederation )
A League Of States The league of states were just a friendship among them. Each state was self-governed and ruled by themselves.
Weak Government The AOC created a weak government with a one-Chamber system where GearGe Washington himself thought lowly of
No taxes/No money National government under the AOC had no money and no authority to impose taxes or make trade agreements. Each state had its own Tariff
Public order The government could not enforce public order. Each state had they're own local militia but could not form a army to handle deals with other nations
