oral hygiene and dental health | get regular checkups to uncover problems, brush daily, consider having cosmetic issues fixed. |
personal hygiene | essential for maintaining a clean work environment, reduces risk of infection and illness |
clothing and uniforms | maintain positive impression by wearing clean, pressed, and fresh clothing |
posture | good posture improves appearance, performance, and energy level. stand and sit straight up. avoid slouching and tensing muscles as it will wear you out quicker. |
smoking | the smell of smoke on clothing/people can irritate patients with smoking related illnesses. Also, it is important to set an example as a health care professional |
chemical dependence | the illegal use or possession of controlled substances can be cause for denying, suspending, or revoking a nursing license. |
personal illness | it is your responsibility to avoid contaminating the clinical environment |
