| Rule of Law | The government and those who govern are bound by the law, as those who are governed |
| Democracy | A government in which people hold the power to rule and make laws |
| Representative Government | A system of government in which people elect public officeholders to make laws and conduct government on the people's behalf |
| Charters of the VA Company of London | Guaranteed the rights of Englishmen to the colonists, gave the colonists the King's permission to sail to the New World, claim all discovered lands for England and establish colonies there |

| Purposes of US Government | Keep Order, Protect Citizens, Provide public goods and services |
| Immigration | Movement to a place to which one is not native in order to settle there |
| Naturalization | The process by which aliens(people not from here) become citizens |
| League of Women Voters | A democratic institution helping women play a larger role in public affairs |
| Due Process of Law | A process by which the government must treat accused persons fairly according to rules established by law |
