Hypertension; HTN Chronic medical condition in which Hypertension is a condition in which blood pressure is persistently elevated for a long period of time.
Hypertension Classification Primary: for which no medical cause can be found. Secondary: Caused by other conditions affecting the kidneys, arteries, heart or endocrine system. Nature: Benign, malignant, and unspecified.
ICD 9 Hypertensive Categories 401 Essential HTN; 402 HTN heart disease, 403 HTN renal disease; 404 HTN heart and renal disease; 405 Secondary HTN
Cerebrovascular Disease primary 430-438; secondary 401-405 Disease of the blood vessels and, especially, the arteries that supply the brain. Cerebrovascular disease is usually caused by atherosclerosis and can lead to a stroke. See also atherosclerosis, stroke
Hypertensive Retinopathy primary 362.11; secondary 401-405 non inflammatory disease of the retina associated with essential or malignant hypertension.
Secondary Hypertension Primary: disease first and 405 secondary hypertension; Sequencing; determined by the reason for the encounter or admission. elevated blood pressure associated with any of several primary diseases, such as renal, pulmonary, endocrine, and vascular diseases. hypertension
Transient Hypertension also known as White Coat Syndrome Code: 796.2 Occurs during a medical examination, presumably as a result of anxiety.
