The following are activities related to the key terms for the chapter.

Conversion of units Changing from one system of measurement to another
Household system of measures Any of the volumes represented by commonly used items as they are applied to administering medicines
Medical abbreviations Symbols used for medication orders
Medication orders The physician’s prescription for administration of a drug; contains six parts
Metric system International standard for weights and measures
Telephone order (TO) An order for treatment medication via the phone - Some agencies allow only certain health care practitioners to take telephone orders - All phone orders should be read back for accuracy and a physician must sign the order within 24h
