Who was King Alfred the Great? King of the English who defeated the Danes and saved England from complete conquest.
Who was Gildas? Gildas was a 6th century British cleric who wrote On the Ruin of Britain.
Who was William the Conqueror? 11th century Duke of Normandy and became King of England in 1066 after he invaded the country.
Who was Harold Godwinson? Earl of Wessex. Was king of England for less than a year until his death at the hands of William the Conqueror.
What was the Battle of Hastings? The battle fought between King Harold and Duke William. Decided the fate of England.
Who were the Normans A Scandinavian viking people who settled in Normandy, France.
What language did the Normans speak? Norman French.
Who were the Romano-British? A Celtic people who lived in Britain during the Roman period.
Which Roman emperor conquered (or had conquered in is name)what is now Britain. Claudius.
