AIR Review Vocabulary - List #4

TermDefinition
Narrator point of view in which a story is told
First-Person Narrator narrator is a character in the story (I, me, my, we, us)
Third-Person Narrator narrator is completely outside of the story (he, she, it, they them)
Omniscient Narrator narrator is all knowing; report on inner thoughts of all character
Third-Person Limited Narrator narrator can only report on thoughts of 1 character
Objective Narrator fly on the wall; can only report on actions of characters
Context words surrounding a word or phrase that clarify the meaning
Graphics drawings, diagrams, tables, charts, illustrations, maps
Summarize to state or express in shortened form
Paraphrase a restatement of text in reader's own words
