Parts of the cell and their purposes

Cell Membrane "The bouncer of the club"; Some things come in and some things come out
Nucleas The control center of the cell
Nuclear Envelope Protects the nucleus; selectively permeable
Nuclear Pore "Like a tunnel"; Allows bigger things in and out of the nucleas
Nucleolus Stores information for making RNA
Chromatin Uncoiled DNA; Looks like squiggles
Cytoplasm A jelly-like substance that gives the cell its shape
Mitochondrion The powerhouse of the cell
Golgi-complex "The UPS of the cell"
Centriole Is used when the cell divides
Microtubule "The cellular highway"; Moves things around
Microfilament Looks like string; What gives the cell its shape
Ribosome Makes protein
E.R. Rough E.R.-Surface is rough with ribosomes; Protein factory Smooth E.R.-Surface without the ribosomes
Vacuole A storage unit
Lysosome "The janitor of the cell
