1 amendment Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press
2 amendment Right to bear arms
3 amendment You Don't have to let soldiers live in your house during a war
4 amendment No one can search your body, house, or things without proving to a huge that you have committed a crime
5 Amendment You can't be tried for any serious crime without a grand jury trial first. If the jury decides you are innocent, the government can't try again with another jury. You don't have to say anything during your trial
6 amendment If you're arrested you have a right to a trail pretty fast and the government can't keep you in jail without trying you
7 Amendment You have the right to a jury when it is a civil case
8 Amendment No excessive bail or cruel/ unusual punishments
9 Amendment Just because these rights are listed in the constitution doesn't mean you don't have other rights too
10 Amendment Anything the constitution doesn't say that congress can do should be left up to the states, or people
Public policy The things a government decides to do. Ex: taxation, defense
Dictatorship A form of government in which one leader has absolute power
Sugar act Taxes on sugar,and molasses
Stamp act Taxes on things made of paper
Townshend act Taxes on paper, glass, and paint
Tea act Taxes on tea
Federalism A system of government in which a written constitution decides the powers of the government between a central and regional governments (states and provinces)
Privileges and immunity clause Allows Americans to work and live in another state
Extradition clause Prevents prisoners from escaping justice by fleeing to another state
Political parties they work to control the government be winning elections
Party watchdog They point out problems they see with the opposing political parties
Electorate Party members
Party in government Party candidates and office holders at all levels of the government
Party organization Party workers who represent the party at national, state, and local levels
Representative government Where the gov serves the people
Due process The right to a fair trial
Charter A written grant of authority from the king
Unicameral government Only one house
