| 1 amendment | Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press |
| 2 amendment | Right to bear arms |
| 3 amendment | You Don't have to let soldiers live in your house during a war |
| 4 amendment | No one can search your body, house, or things without proving to a huge that you have committed a crime |
| 5 Amendment | You can't be tried for any serious crime without a grand jury trial first. If the jury decides you are innocent, the government can't try again with another jury. You don't have to say anything during your trial |
| 6 amendment | If you're arrested you have a right to a trail pretty fast and the government can't keep you in jail without trying you |
| 7 Amendment | You have the right to a jury when it is a civil case |
| 8 Amendment | No excessive bail or cruel/ unusual punishments |
| 9 Amendment | Just because these rights are listed in the constitution doesn't mean you don't have other rights too |
| 10 Amendment | Anything the constitution doesn't say that congress can do should be left up to the states, or people |
| Public policy | The things a government decides to do. Ex: taxation, defense |
| Dictatorship | A form of government in which one leader has absolute power |
| Sugar act | Taxes on sugar,and molasses |
| Stamp act | Taxes on things made of paper |
| Townshend act | Taxes on paper, glass, and paint |
| Tea act | Taxes on tea |
| Federalism | A system of government in which a written constitution decides the powers of the government between a central and regional governments (states and provinces) |
| Privileges and immunity clause | Allows Americans to work and live in another state |
| Extradition clause | Prevents prisoners from escaping justice by fleeing to another state |
| Political parties | they work to control the government be winning elections |
| Party watchdog | They point out problems they see with the opposing political parties |
