Bill of Rights

To help study the Bill of Rights and each of the first 10 Amendments.

AmendmentExplanation
Amendment I Freedom of religion, speech, and the press; right for people to assemble and petition the gov't.
Amendment II Protects the right to keep and bear Arms
Amendment III Prevents citizens from having to house troops
Amendment IV The right to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures.
Amendment V "Due Process of Law," Guarantees trial by jury, protects citizens against double jeopardy, and self-incrimination.
Amendment VI Grants the right to have a speedy and public trial, outlines the right of the accused, gives accused the right to be informed of their charges, right to call witnesses, and right to an attorney.
Amendment VII
Amendment VIII Protects against "cruel and unusual punishments." Excessive bail will not be fined, nor excessive fines imposed.
