Bill of Rights
To help study the Bill of Rights and each of the first 10 Amendments.
| Amendment | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Amendment I | Freedom of religion, speech, and the press; right for people to assemble and petition the gov't. |
| Amendment II | Protects the right to keep and bear Arms |
| Amendment III | Prevents citizens from having to house troops |
| Amendment IV | The right to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures. |
| Amendment V | "Due Process of Law," Guarantees trial by jury, protects citizens against double jeopardy, and self-incrimination. |
| Amendment VI | Grants the right to have a speedy and public trial, outlines the right of the accused, gives accused the right to be informed of their charges, right to call witnesses, and right to an attorney. |

| Amendment VIII | Protects against "cruel and unusual punishments." Excessive bail will not be fined, nor excessive fines imposed. |
