House of Burgesses/Mayflower Compact

Why was the House of Burgesses formed? To draw more people in with the new form of government called a representative democracy.
Why was the Mayflower Compact formed? It was formed out of necessity because the Pilgrims had landed North of Jamestown and were too far away to use their government.
Who made all of the decisions with the Mayflower Compact and in the House of Burgesses? Only men were involved in the early governments.
When was the House formed? 1619
What was the purpose of the Compact? The purpose was to set up an effective government system as well as having a religious purpose.
What was the purpose of the House? The purpose of the House of Burgesses was to make rules, laws, and acts.
What form of government did the Mayflower Compact set up? The Compact set up a self government.
Where were the members of the House elected from? 11 Districts
What did all citizens pledge to do in the Mayflower Compact? They pledged to follow and support the decisions made.
