Population Vocabulary

Total Fertility Rate Average number of children that would be born over a lifetime
Mortality Rate Number of maternal deaths per 1,000 women of reproductive age in the population
Infant Mortality Rate Infant death rate; during the first year per 1,000 live births
Maternal Mortality Rate Maternal death is defined as the death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy (During birth or after) per 100,00 child births`
Crude Birth Rate Is the total number of live births in a year for every 1,000 people
Crude Death Rate Is the total number of deaths in a year for every 1,000 people
Natural Increase Rate How slow or fast a population grows
Less Developed Country A third world country
More Developed Country A sovereign state that has a highly developed economy and advanced technological infrastructure relative to other less developed nations
Level of Income The monetary payment received for goods or services, or from other sources, as rents or investments.
