republic citizens elect local, state, and national level, they make laws that impact citizens lives; head of the country is usually an elected president
monarchy people are born into it; loved or hated rulers; obey monarch's laws
dictatorship someone gets their place by force; dictator is hated, loved or feared
democracy gets to vote for their laws; elected into place;accept the elected leader knowing then can try to elect a new one
