| totalitarian | total control over everything: land, resources, industry, schools, and media |
| dictatorship | use violence to overthrow previous governments; ruled by one person |
| absolute monarchy | citizens have no rights and ruled by a king or a queen whatever they say goes |
| theocracy | strict religious teaching by religious leaders; |
| democratic | citizens are given a voice |
| pure democracy | call all citizens to meet to make laws |
| constitutional monarchy | they have kings and queens but they don't have any power |
| republic | citizens elect local, state, and national level, they make laws that impact citizens lives; head of the country is usually an elected president |
| monarchy | people are born into it; loved or hated rulers; obey monarch's laws |
| dictatorship | someone gets their place by force; dictator is hated, loved or feared |
| democracy | gets to vote for their laws; elected into place;accept the elected leader knowing then can try to elect a new one |
