5 Themes of Geography- Regions

TermDefinition
Functional Region Areas that are linked together to function as a unit
Perceptual Region Areas based on human thoughts and feelings; often identified by a nickname
Formal Region An area with one or more common characteristics that separate it from another
Physical Characteristics Description of visual and useful objects like mountains, rivers, plants and topography
Human Chracteristics Human-designed cultural features, from land use and architecture to forms of livelihood and religion
Boundaries A line that marks the limits of an area; a dividing line
Unifying Make or become united,uniform, or whole
