Who was Hippocrates? was considered the father of medicine.HE believed that diseases were caused by outside factors and not superstition and gods. He believed that the body could heal itself through good diet,fresh air,cleanliness, and exercise
Who was Edward Jenner? was the first person to develop a vaccine for smallpox in 1796
Who was Joseph Lister? began to use antiseptics and disinfectants during surgery.
Who was Florence Nightingale? is considered the founder of modern nursing.She establishes sanitary nursing care units for injured soldiers during the Crimean War.
How did the Roman contribute to medicine? contributed by beginning public health and sanitation systems.
Who was Jonas Salk? developed the first polio vaccine in 1952
Who was Louis Pasteur? began to pasteurize milk to kill bacteria and was able to develop the germ theory.
What is a retrovirus? any of a group of viruses that, unlike most other viruses and all cellular organisms, carry their genetic blueprint in the form of ribonucleic acid (RNA). Retroviruses are responsible for certain cancers.
