What is militarism? Countries build up arms, weapons, use military power to control other countries.
What is Imperialism? When a country wants to expand its borders or empire to gain power.
What are alliances? Agreements that are signed by countries where they promise to help each other.
What is Nationalism? A movement where a group of people want to form a new nation.
What are the two main alliances formed prior to WW1? Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente
Which country was opposed to Austria Hungary annexing Bosnia and Herzegovinia? Serbia
What country was created to stop Serbia gaining a Mediterranean sea coast? Albania
Which major power was a friend to Serbia? Russia
What was the scramble for Africa? Where the main powers of Europe raced to gain as much territory as possible to colonise.
Who was shot in Sarajevo? Prince Franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungary
Which nationality was Gavrip Princep? Bosnian
What role did Serbia play in the assassination? They supplied arms to the Bosnian Youth
