Anatomy

QuestionAnswer
What is the placenta? a temporary endocrine gland.
What does it serve as? serves as an interface of mom's circulatory and the developing child.
What is secreted by fetal tissue? Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG).
What does Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) stimulate? the development and hormone secretion by maternal ovarian tissues.
When does hCG drop? after 3 months when the placenta takes over the job of the ovaries in producing the hormones necessary to maintain pregnancy.
