Government definitions

QuestionAnswer
Government A group of citizens that run a community.
Mayor Leader of a city or town government.
Court Decides whether a person has broken a law and what the consequences are.
Judge A person in charge of a court that makes sure citizens are treated fairly.
Government service Something that the government provides for all the citizens of a community (schools, libraries, parks, etc.)
Tax Money paid to the government to pay for services.
Election A time when people vote for their leaders.
Vote A choice that gets counted.
Appointed A person chosen by one of our leaders. Citizens don't vote for this person.
Majority rule More than half the people vote for something.
