| Direct Mail | A way of sending messages to large groups of people through the mail. |
| Propaganda | A message that is meant to influence people’s ideas, opinions, or actions in a certain way. |
| Media | Television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet. |
| Bias | Favoring a particular point of view over another. |
| Campaign Manager | A person who helps plan the broad outlines of a campaign: where to go, what issues to talk about, and what image of the candidate to put forth. |
| Campaign Press Secretary | A person who makes certain that the media show the candidate in the best light. |
| Incumbent | Someone who already holds the office for which he or she is running. This gives him or her a very good chance of winning. |
| Electors | People who promise to cast votes for the candidate selected by voters. |
