What is the principle repetition? when something repeats itself
How does texture affect color? it can make shadows and such affecting the color
what do curved lines suggest? they suggest that it's more of a graceful and peaceful movement
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance? horizontal is side to side vertical is up & down and radial is where something comes out of all sides of that object
What do diagonal lines suggest? it usually makes things look taller
what is space? it's more room or area
What are the four types of rhythm? regular, alternating, progessing, flowing,and random
What is asymmetrical balance? Example? it's where you can split something down the middle and there might be objects of the same size on both but they aren't exactly alike. an example would be a couch with two end tables one has a small plant and the other has a small lamp
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? horizontal is left to right and vertical is up and down
What is the golden mean? it has to do with the relationship between the whole split in half and the whole
What is the difference between shape and form? shape is two dimension and form is three dimension
What are the five types of balance? formal, informal, horizontal, occult, and oppositional
What does unity or harmony mean? it's a combination of tones & it's a combination of things
What are the two things texture involves? how it feels and how it looks
What are the four types of line? horizontal, vertical, curvy, diagonal
What is proportion it's a part of a whole
Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest? informal balance
What is symmetrical balance? Example? It's where you can split a picture down the middle and have the same exact things on both sides. an example would be if you have a fire place and on one side it has 2 candle sticks and on the other it has the exact same 2 candle sticks
What is emphasis? What is another name for it? Where the designer tries to make it pop out to you in the room, another word for it would be highlight
What happens when you use a continuous line? It makes the room look longer and wider and bigger
What is another name for symmetrical balance? identical balance
What is another name for asymmetrical balance? disproportional balance
What is the difference between gradation and radiation? gradation is going from light to dark and radiation is going from one object and spreading out the colors
