Terms

TermDefinition
Creation The act by which the eternal God gave a beginning to all that exists outside of himself. Creation also refers to the created universe or totality of what exists, as often expressed by the formula “the heavens and the earth”.
Creator God as Maker of all things from nothing. The earliest Latin creeds profess belief in "God the Father almighty, Creator [creatorem] of heaven and earth."
Dominion Ownership of material goods, entitling the owner to proprietary rights, i.e., to use, change, keep, or dispose of what one owns. Christianity views dominion as not absolute, but always relative to the common good of society.
Revelation Disclosure by God of himself and his will to the human race.
Steward Christ proposed the faithful steward as model for the responsible Christian (Luke 12:42). The Apostles are chosen stewards of the divine mysteries (I Corinthians 4:1-2), and every Christian is a steward of the mysteries of God (I Peter 4:10).
Stewardship In biblical usage the management of whatever a person is entrusted with, not only to preserve but profitably administer for his master, ultimately for God.
