what is loose connective tissue? | tissue where fibers are loosely intertwined an many cells are present. Three types are areolar, adipose, reticular tissues. Forms loose connections. |
What is Areolar Connective Tissue? | Most widely distriuted tissue. fills all the spaces in the body. This tissue is right under the skin and holds the organ loosely in place(fat is embedded-room to expand) |
What is Adipose Connective Tissue? | AKA fat. provides cushion, insulation, protects, stores energy in the form of fat. |
What is reticular connective tissue? | This tissue forms the stroma(supporting framework) of the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes. |
What is Dense Connective Tissue? | Contains more fibers but fewer cells than loose connective tissue.(tightly packed together. |
What is Dense regular connective tissue? | collagen fibers are regularly arranged. in parallel patterns, provides the tissue wiht strength lengthwise only. (ligaments and tendons) |
What is dense irregular connective tissue? | collagen fibers are irregularly arranged. Found where there are pulling forces in various direction. (dermis, pericardium)(perichondrium-cartilage, Periosteum-surrounds bone) |
What is Elastic Connective Tissue? | stretches-vertebrae,vocal cords. |
What is mesenchyme? | Embryonic tissue, unspecialized, undifferentiated. |
What is mucous connective tissue? | Wharton's Jelly(umbilical cord) |
