| Chief Diplomat | the President negotiates treaties with foreign governments |

| Commander in Chief | one who holds the supreme command of an armed force. |
| Economic Planner | prepares economic report for congress, prepares the federal budget, and controls prices, wages, production, and purchasing. |
| Enumerated Powers | the powers granted to the federal government of the United States. |
| Executive Order | a rule or order issued by the president to an executive branch of the government and having the force of law. |
| Executive Privilege | the privilege, claimed by the president for the executive branch of the US government, of withholding information in the public interest. |
| Head of State | the chief public representative of a country, such as a president or monarch, who may also be the head of government. |
| Impeach | charge with misconduct. |
| Inherent Powers | powers held by a sovereign state. |
| Legislative | having the power to make laws. |
| Mandate | an official order or commission to do something. |
| Party Leader | the official representative of their political party. |
| Pocket Veto | an indirect veto of a legislative bill by the president or a governor by retaining the bill unsigned until it is too late for it to be dealt with during the legislative session. |
