fever | elevated body temperature |
malignant hyperthermia | inherited condition characterized by an abnormally increased body temperature and muscle rigidity when a person is exposed to certain anesthetics |
heat stroke | life-threatening condition characterized by high body temperature; failure of thermoregulatory mechanisms to maintain homeostasis in a VERY warm external environment |
heat exhaustion | condition cause by fluid loss resulting from activity of thermoregulatory mechanisms in a warm external environment |
hypothermia | failure of thermoregulatory mechanisms to maintain homeostasis in a very cold external environment |
frostbite | local tissue damage caused by extreme cold |
