Central | body part is situated at the center of the body or an organ |
Distal | body part is farther away from the point of attachment or farther from the trunk or torso |
Peripheral | body part is situated away from the center of the body or an organ |
Posterior | (Dorsal) body part is located towards the back |
Lateral | body part is located farther away from the midline |
Medial | body part is nearer than another part to an imaginary midline of the body |
Superficial | (x-ternal) body part is located near the surface |
Anterior | (ventral) body part is located towards the front |
Inferior | body part is located below another part, or toward the feet |
Proximal | body part is closer to the point of attachment or closer to the trunk or torso |
Deep | (internal) body part is located away from the surface |
Superior | body part is located above another part, or towards the head |
