President Harding | President from 1921 to 1923. Republican. "Ohio Gang" were crooked politicians (Cabinet Members) who steal money. |
President Coolidge | President 1923 to 1928, Republican. A man of integrity (honesty). "Silent Cal" "The chief business of the American people is business." |
Fundamentalism | Protestant religous movement that believed the Bible is the source of truth. |
Scopes Monkey Trial | Evolution v. Creationism (fundamentalist). teaching religion in the public schools. The teacher was forbidden to teach evolution (science) because it contradict fundamentalist beliefs. Teacher found guilty and fined. |
Al Capone | Bootlegger and crime syndicate leader of Chicago. Dies in jail for tax evasion (IRS). |

Assembly line | Labor and Manufacturing. Speeding up factory production. Allows for mass production and low prices. Worker does not need to be skilled for repetitive job. |

Red Scare | Fear of Communism in America after the Russian Revolution. Keep those foreign troublemakers away. |

Flappers | emancipated ('free') young women who wears new fashions and attitudes Short dresses and smoking |
