Containment Policies | Foreign policies created to stop the spread of communism |
Truman Doctrine | Containment policy that gave money to Greece and Turkey to help them resist Soviet expansion |
Marshall Plan | Containment policy that gave $13 billion to Europe to rebuild after WWII |
Berlin Blockade | Action by Soviet Union to cut off Allies access to West Berlin in an attempt to gain control of the entire city |
Berlin Airlift | 15 month effort by the US to fly over Berlin and drop food, medical supplies, etc to combat the Berlin Blockade |
NATO | North Atlantic Treaty Organization created to provide mutual defense between US, Canada, and several European nations |
Warsaw Pact | Military alliance between the Soviet Union and its satellite nations |

Senator Joseph McCarthy | Led a controversial hunt for communists in the US after WWII. Ruined many people with false accusations |
House Un-American Activities Committee | Formed 1938 to investigate US citizens accused of activities disloyal to the country. Part of the Red Scare |
Loyalty Review Board | Established to investigate federal employees for suspicious activities during the Red Scare |

Brown v Board of Education | 1954 Supreme Court ruling that segregation in public schools is illegal |
