Question | Answer |
Insertion | The place where the muscle is attached to the bone that moves. |
Origin | The place where the muscle is attached to the bone that does not move. |
Deltoid | Origin on clavicle and scapula; insertion on humerus; Abducts arm, moves arm anteriorly and posteriorly |
Biceps brachii | Origin on scapula, above shoulder, insertion on radius; flexes arm |
Triceps brachi | Origin on scapula and back (posterior) humerus; insertion on back of ulna. |
Brachioradialis | Origin is side (lateral) humerus; insertion lateral, distal radius |
Vastus lateralis | Origin upper femur: Insertion Insertion lateral patella and anterior upper tibia by way of a tendon. Extends knee |
Gastrocnemius | Origin bottom (distal ) femur; insertion achilles tendon which connects to heel (calcaneous) Points toes |
Soleus | Origin back of fibula; insertion in achilles tendon which connects to heel (calcaneous) flexes toes |
Sartorius | Origin side of hip (lateral iliac): side of the top of the tibia: Flexes knee and laterally rotates leg |
