Question | Answer |
Refraction | Ability of the eye to bend light so that an image is focused on the retina. |
Real Image | The image formed on the retina as a result of the refractory activity of the lens. (reversed, inverted, and reduced). |
Accommodation | Process by which the eye increases optical power to maintain a clear image on an object getting closer to the eye. |
Emmetropia | Normal Eye |
Myopia | Near sightedness; image focuses in front of retina |
Hyperopia | Far sightedness; image focuses behind the retina |
Astigmatism | Irregularities in the curvature of the lens and/or the cornea lead to a blurred vision problem. |
Conjunctivitis | Inflammation of the conjunctiva, often accompanied by redness of the eye. |
Presbyopia | Old Eye; vision condition involving loss of the eye's ability to focus on close objects. |
Cataract | Cloudiness or opacity. Vision becomes hazy or entirely obstructed (blind). |
Glaucoma | Pain and possible blindness. Retina and optic nerve are compressed. |
Convergence | Medial eye movement. Both eyes are directed toward the near object viewed. |
Binocular Vision | Both eyes are used synchronously to produce a single image but slightly different views. |
Astigmatism Test | one eye open to view chart. if all radiating lines appear equally dark and distinct, there is no distortion of refracting surfaces. |
