Upper Limb | 32 Bones; Pectoral girdle (2) and Free Upper Limb (30) |
Pectoral Girdle | Attach the bones of free upper limb to axial skeleton. Clavicle and Scapula. Doesn't articulate with vertebral column |
Clavicle | Collarbone; Horizontal, anterior to Thorax. Medial half is convex anteriorly. Lateral half is concave anteriorly (away). |
Strut of Pectoral Girdl | Props shoulder away from rib cage |
Sternal End | Medial End of clavicle. Rounded and articulates with manubrium of sternum to form sternoclavicular joint. |
Acromial End | Lateral End. Articulates with acromion of scapula at acromioclavicular joint |
Conoid Tubercle | interior surface of lateral end is point of attachment foor conoid ligament |
Impression for Costoclavicular Ligament | On inferior surface of sternal end; point of attachment for costoclavicular ligament |
Scapula | Shoulder blade; Triangular, flat. Superior part of posterior thorax. |
Spine | Runs diagonally across posterior |
Acromion | High Point, peak of shoulder; binds with acromial end of clavicle to form acromiovlavicular joint |
Glenoid Cavity | Shallow depression -- accepts head of humerus; forms glenohumeral joint |
Medial (Vertebral Border) | 5cm from Vertebral Column |
Lateral (Axial Border) | Closer to arm, thicker side |
Inferior Angle | medial and Lateral borders meet there |

Superior Angle | Meets with Medial Border |
Scapular Notch | Indentation along superior border |
Corocoid Process | Muscle attachment along anterior surface |
