Epiphyseal Line | a bony structure that is caused by the fading of the growth plates. |
Epiphyseal Plate | The growth plate, which allows the bone to grow length wise. |
Articular Cartilage | a thin layer of hyaline cartilage covering part of the epiphysis which is where the bone forms a joint. |
Diaphysis | the bones shaft or body. |
Epiphysis | the heads of the bone. |
Metaphysis | regions between the diaphysis and the epiphysis. |
Periosteum | a tough connective tissue associated with blood supply that surrounds the bones surface that is not covered by articular cartilage. |

Marrow Cavity | a narrow space within the diaphysis that contains fatty yellow marrow and blood vessels, in adults. |
Endosteum | a thin membrane that lines the marrow cavity. |
Nutrient Artery | helps feed the bone important nutrients in order for it to grow. |
