What is a fiborous joint?   Named so bc the dense connective tissue holding them together containing many collagenous fibers. They lie between bones that closely contact one another.

What is Syndesmosis?   Bones bound by interosseous ligament. Joint flexible and may be twisted. Examples) Between Ulna and Radius

What is a Suture?   Flat Bones united by sutural ligament united by thin layer of connective tissue. Example) Parietal bones articulate at saggital suture of skull.

What is a Gomphosis?   Cone shaped process fastened in a bony socket periodontal ligament. Example) Root of tooth united with mandible.

What is a Cartilaginous Joint?   Articulating bones connected by hyaline cartilage or fibrocartiglage.

What is a Synchondrosis?   Bones united by bands of hyaline cartilage. Movement occurs during growth process until ossification occurs. Example) Joint between epiphysis and diaphysis of a long bone.

What is a Symphysis?   Articular surfaces seperated by thin layers of hyaline cartilage attached to bands of fibrocartilage. Limited movement, as when back is bent or twisted. Example) Seperates pubic bones and interverterable discs that seperates the vertebrae.

What is a Synovial Joint?   Articulating bones surrounded by a joint capsule of ligaments and synovial membranes; ends of articulating bones covered by hyaline cartilage and seperated by synovial fluid.

What is a Ball and Socket Joint?   Ball shaped head of one bone articulates with cup shaped socket of another. Movements: all planes and rotation. Example) Shoulder and Hip.

What is a Condyloid Joint?   Oval shaped condoyle of one bone articulates with elliptical cavity of another. Example) Joints between metacarpals and phalanges.
