What was the Jacksonian Democracy?   A government by the people. Advocated for democracy in political, social, and economic life.

How did the Jacksonian Democracy help farmers and workers?   It focused on an agricultural and industrial society. They sought to restore the independence of the individual (especially farmers and workers) by ending federal support of banks and corporations and restricting the use of paper currency.

What does it mean that Andrew Jackson "cleaned house" when he became president?   He fired many government officials and replaced them with his friends who had been loyal to him.

The Republicans supported building a strong government with nationally financed internal improvements and a protective tariff.

What was unique about the presidential election of 1824?   The candidate (Andrew Jackson) who won the most electoral votes and popular vote did not win.

What was the "corrupt bargain?"   Because no candidate received a majority of electoral votes, the House elected John Quincy Adams President. It was believed that Henry Clay, (Speaker of the House), convinced Congress to elect Adams, who then made Clay his Secretary of State.
