| jugular notch | the small dip located on the superior end of the manubrium, along midline; located along the midline at the topo f your sternum, between the collarbones

| body | located in the middle of the sternum; the largest part and serves as the attachment for the costal cartilages and ribs

| xiphoid process | smallest part of the sternum; small and triangular shaped and located on the most inferior end of the sternum

| hyoid bone | the only bone in the body that does not join with another bone; the "floating bone"
--> located inferior to the mandible at the top of our neck
--> serves as an attachment to muscles taht form the base (floor) of our tongue as well as deeper muscles of the neck

| lesser horns | set of bony protrusions located more anteriorly, inside the curve of the hyoid bone

||||
| greater horns | bony protrusions of the hyoid bone located more posteriorly at each end of the curve
