| Right Atrium | The right atrium receives oxygen poor blood from three veins: superior vena cava, coronary sinus, and the inferior vena cava. Blood flows from the right atrium to the right ventricle.

| Atrioventricular Valve (AV valve)/Tricuspid Valve | This valve directs blood flow in the heart. There are two AV valves in the heart, one on the lefts and one on the right. This valve has three flaps giving it the name tricuspid.

| Right Ventricle | The inferior cavity of the heart on the right side that contracts to pump blood.

| Chordae Tendinae | Fibers that connect the tricuspid or bicuspid valves to their respective ventricles.

| Semilunar Valves | The valves connect ventricles to arteries or veins that leave the heart. Theses valves prevent blood from flowing back into the heart. Two major semilunar valves: Pulmonary semilunar valve and the aortic semilunar valve.

| Left Atrium | One of the superior cavities of the heart that receives oxygen rich blood from the lungs. Blood is directed from the left atrium to the left ventricle.

| Bicuspid Vavle | This is the AV valve of the left side of the heart that separate the left atrium from the left ventricle. It has two flaps giving it the name bicuspid. Another common name is the mitral valve.

| Left Ventricle | One of the inferior cavities of the heart. This ventricle is responsible for most of the pumping action done by the heart. The blood is pumped out of the ventricle through the aortic semilunar valve to the rest of the heart.

| SA node (Sinoatrial) | The point of nodal tissue that is responsible for carrying the signal of contraction to the heart. This node initiates the signal for the heart beat.

| AV node (Atrioventricular) | Located at the base of the right atrium, this point receives the signal to contract from the SA node. The AV node then sends signals to the rest of the heart to contract.

||||
| Atrioventricular bundle (AV bundle) | These fibers carry the signal for heart contraction from the AV node. These fibers split to reach both the right and left ventricles.

||||
| Purkinje Fibers | These are special fibers that branch out from the AV bundle. Purkinje fibers carry the signal for contraction deeper into the muscle tissue of the heart.

| Gap Junctions | Special connections between cells that allow for electrical signals to be transferred between cells.

| Arrythmias | Irregular heartbeats
